A delicious dessert!
Steps
- 1
Pour about 1/2 inch of olive oil into a skillet over medium heat. Add the lemon peel and 2 tablespoons of anise seeds. Fry until golden, then strain the oil and set aside the flavored oil.
- 2
Reserve 2 tablespoons of this oil and place them in another skillet to use for the porridge.
- 3
Cut the bread into pieces.
- 4
Fry the bread pieces in the remaining oil, then drain on paper towels and set aside.
- 5
In a saucepan, combine the milk with the lemon peel and the fried anise seeds you set aside. Add the sugar, the cinnamon stick, and another tablespoon of raw anise seeds for extra flavor. Bring to a simmer and cook well.
- 6
Strain the milk, then add the flour. Whisk thoroughly to avoid lumps.
- 7
Pour this milk mixture into the skillet with the reserved 2 tablespoons of oil. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.
- 8
Add some of the fried bread pieces to the thickened porridge and cook for a few more minutes.
- 9
Pour the porridge into a serving dish or individual bowls. Garnish with some of the remaining fried bread pieces and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon. Let cool before serving. It's even better the next day. Enjoy!
