Ingredients

20 minutes
10 servings
  • 200 gmssoya chunks
  • 1 litrewater for boiling soya chunks
  • 2 tablespoonmilk (it will help remove the typical smell of soya
  • 1/4 cupgram flour (besan)
  • 1medium potato boiled & mashed
  • 1 teaspoongarlic paste
  • 3spring onions
  • 1/2 teaspoonpepper powder
  • 1/2 teaspoongaram masala powder
  • 1/2 teaspoonfennel/saunf powder
  • 1 teaspoondhaniya powder
  • 1 tablespoonlime juice
  • Oil for shallow frying
  • 1/4 cupcornflour for dusting
  • Salt 1 teaspoon + for taste

Steps

20 minutes
  1. 1

    In a large pan, boil water, add salt and milk. Now add soya chunks.

  2. 2

    Cook for 7-8 minutes, then turn off the flame, strain the chunks and allow it to cool

  3. 3

    Simultaneously dry roast the gram flour until the raw smell is gone. Set aside to cool

  4. 4

    Once the soya chunks cool, grind them using mixer grinder. Finely chop the onions and the greens

  5. 5

    In a large mixing bowl take ground soya paste, roasted gram flour, all the spice powders, lime juice and salt as per taste. Mix well

  6. 6

    Make tikkis of desired size and shape. Dust with corn flour.

  7. 7

    Heat oil in a non stick pan and fry the tikkis until golden brown on each side.

  8. 8

    Serve with chutney, sauce, mayonnaise at tea time
