1 cupshortening
1 tspsalt
1 tspvanilla
1/4 tspbaking soda
2 cupsugar
1egg well beaten
5 cupflour
4 tspbaking powder
1 cupmilk

Steps

Combine shortening, salt, vanilla, and baking soda.

Add sugar gradually and cream well.

add beaten egg and mix thoroughly

sift flour and baking powder together and add to creamed mixture alternating with the milk mix well

Drop by teaspoon full onto cookie sheet wait 1 minute and press down

Bake at 375°F for 10 to 15 minutes makes about 8 dozen cookies
