Ingredients

  1. 1 cupUnsalted butter, softened
  2. 2 1/2 cupGranulated sugar
  3. 4 eachEggs
  4. 1 1/2 tspVanilla extract
  5. 1 cupBaking cocoa
  6. 2 cupBoiling water, or coffee
  7. 2 3/4 cupAll purpose flour
  8. 2 tspBaking soda
  9. 1/2 tspBaking powder
  10. 1/2 tspSalt

Steps

  1. 1

    Cream butter and sugar.

  2. 2

    Add eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla.

  3. 3

    Whisk cocoa and water together.

  4. 4

    Whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

  5. 5

    Alternatively add dry and wet.

  6. 6

    Pour in greased cake pan and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Turn down to 325 and bake until done.
