Ingredients

4 servings
  1. 11# 15oz can of VanDekamps Pork and Beans (do not use store brands) (or 2 small cans)
  2. 3/4 cupbrown sugar
  3. 1/2 cupKetchup
  4. 1 tspdry mustard (do not sub w/ sandwich mustard)
  5. 1 mediumOnion
  6. 3strips of thick bacon or 6 strips of thin
  7. 1 dashGround red Pepper. (Cayanne)

Steps

  1. 1

    Chop onion and cut bacon into small pieces.

  2. 2

    Sautee bacon and onion till bacon is cooked and onion is tender.

  3. 3

    Drain off the grease.

  4. 4

    In a 3 qt baking dish, spray with Pam. Add Pork and Beans (I usually drain off excess bean juice first). add brown sugar, ketchup and dry mustard, and dash of Ground Red Pepper.

  5. 5

    Stir in Sauteed bacon and onion.

  6. 6

    Bake uncovered for 1 hour at 350°F

  7. 7

    cool slightly before serving. Beans will thicken.
