Steps
- 1
Preheat oven to 450°F.
- 2
Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl with a whisk.
- 3
Place the mixture in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or 15 minutes in the freezer.
- 4
Add the stick of butter (about 8 tbl) a few slices at a time. Use you hands to work the butter into the mix by pressing the butter flat and letting it break into smaller pieces.
- 5
Toss the mixture with your hands to uniformly mix butter.
- 6
Add the buttermilk and mix with a fork until consistency is thick and there is no more dry flour spots. You may need to add some buttermilk if needed.
- 7
Since you are making these biscuits for the dressing, there is no need to roll out the dough and cut into shapes. Simply spoon out the batter onto a greased cookie sheet. We call these "drop" biscuits.
- 8
Bake for about 12 minutes or until the outside of the biscuits are golden brown.
