Ingredients

4 servings
  1. 1big cup- Basmati rice
  2. 3- Tomatoes (cut into pieces)
  3. 2Onion- cut into thin slices
  4. 1 tbspGhee-
  5. 1 tspKashmiri chilli powder-
  6. halfLemon -
  7. to tasteSalt
  8. 1& half tbspOil-
  9. 2 cupsWater- (use same cup for measuring rice)
  10. Coriander leaves- for garnish
  11. Whole spices- as per taste-(cardamom,bay leaf,star anise,
  12. Fennel seeds,Blck pepper corns,clove, cinnamon cumin)

Steps

    Wash the rice and soak for 10 minutes.Drain and keep aside later.

  2. 2

    Take a pan heat it..Put oil and ghee....Then add the whole spices...Saute for 30 seconds...

  3. 3

    Then add the sliced onions and saute again for 2 to 3 minutes...Put chilli powder....Then add chopped tomatoes...Fry till soft...

  4. 4

    Add the washed and drained rice.

  5. 5

    Fry well....Add the measured water and put salt.... Squeeze lemon juice...And mix well..

  6. 6

    Close with lid and let it cook on medium flame for 5 to 6 minutes...

  7. 7

    Turn the gas off when it is cooked....

  8. 8

    Garnish with coriander leaves... serve hot with raita of your choice...
