Ingredients

  1. 1.1 lbs (500 grams)atayef, ready-made
  2. For the filling and garnish:
  3. 1 cupraisins
  4. 1/2 cupshredded coconut
  5. 1/2 cupcrushed peanuts
  6. 1 tablespoonsugar
  7. 2 cupsoil (for frying)
  8. Syrup:
  9. 1 1/2 cupssugar
  10. 1 cupwater
  11. 1little lemon juice or juice of 1 lemon
  12. Pinchsalt
  13. Pinchcinnamon or vanilla

Steps

  1. 1

    Place the syrup ingredients in a saucepan over heat. Let it cook until it thickens and is ready.

  2. 2

    Mix the nuts well and add the tablespoon of sugar.

  3. 3

    Stuff the atayef with the nut mixture and seal them well.

  4. 4

    Fry the stuffed atayef in oil over heat until they turn a beautiful golden color.

  5. 5

    Remove them and place on a strainer to drain excess syrup. Serve.

  6. 6

    After frying, dip them in the cold syrup and let them soak well.

    Garnish with the remaining nuts.
