Ingredients

70 mins
8 servings
  1. 6-8Apples (tart apples are great but any baking apple will do.)
  2. 6 ozBlueberries
  3. 8 ozsoftened cream cheese
  4. 1 cupbrown sugar
  5. 1/2 cupall purpose flour
  6. 1/2 cupoats
  7. 1/3 cupbutter
  8. 2/3 TSPnutmeg
  9. 2/3 TSPcinnamon
  10. 1small jar of blueberry preserves

Cooking Instructions

70 mins
  1. 1

Core the apples and arrange them in your smoker or grill for indirect heat, (foil rings help stabolize them if you have trouble with them rolling away.) if using a grill put soaked Apple wood chips in a foil pack with holes in it on the hot coals, Smoke for 20-30 minutes. (the apples should get soft on the grill but not overly soft, they still have to bake for 30 minutes.)

  2. 2

In a bowl, mix brown sugar, butter, oats, flour, cinnimon, and nutmeg. Set aside.

  3. 3

Into a greased baking dish spread the blueberry preserves in an even layer.(this will use moisture from the apples and turn into a Blueberry sauce once baked)

  4. 4

Slice your smoked apples into eighths and put into the dish with the blueberry preserves, add blueberries and cover with brown sugar mixture.

  5. 5

Put softened cream cheese into a piping bag and pipe over the top. Bake at 375° for 30 minutes.

  6. 6

Serve as is, or top with vanilla ice cream.

  7. 7

Afterthought: If your apples taste too smokey, peel them before baking. The peel holds a lot of the smoke flavor.
