Doughnuts

I have wanted to make doughnuts forever but thought it was really difficult. The first time I tried, they were more like dough puffs. Much better results this time.

I have wanted to make doughnuts forever but thought it was really difficult. The first time I tried, they were more like dough puffs. Much better results this time.
Steps
- 1
Add all ingredients to a bowl if using instant yeast. Otherwise, proof the yeast in the water before adding to other ingredients.
- 2
Using a dough hook on your stand mixer, mix until the dough is firm and not sticking to the bowl.
- 3
Roll out dough into another bowl, cover and set aside until the dough is double in size.
- 4
After the dough has risen, place on a lightly floured surface and knead gently. Divide the dough in half, wrapping one half.
- 5
Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough to desired thickness, then cut with a sharp cutter.
- 6
Place cut out dough on a baking tray and set aside to double in size.
- 7
In a medium pan on heat add oil for frying.
- 8
When the oil is hot enough, gently add your cut out dough. Flip when golden brown.
- 9
Sprinkle sugar or cover with a glaze if you desire. Serve
