Plain Masala Pulao

Wash the rice till the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 15 to 20 minutes. Keep aside.

Heat oil. Add whole spices and allow them to sizzle.

Add onions and green chilli and saute till the onions are translucent.

Add ginger and garlic paste and saute till the raw smell goes.

Add tomatoes and salt and cook till the tomatoes are soft and mushy.

Add all the powdered spices and cook for a minute.

Add the soaked and drained rice and saute for a minute.

Add water and the soup cube and keep the flame on high. Allow the water to reach boiling point. When it starts to boil, reduce the flame to low and cover and cook till the rice is cooked.

Masala Pulao is ready. Serve hot with yogurt or raita.
