Linzer butter cookies
Steps

Sieve the flour, powdered sugar and salt together in a bowl.

Make a hole in centre and put egg and vanilla essence.

Mix it with flour till Incorporated.

Cut the butter into cubes and add to the flour.

Slowly mix with hands to resemble breadcrumbs. Continue working with light hands till a dough comes together.

Wrap the dough in cling film and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

Take out after 2 hours and then roll it out till the thickness is 1/8 inch.

Cut a larger base and a smaller top for each cookie in your desired shape. Reroll and cut till all dough is used.

Bake them in a preheated oven at 180 degree Celsius for 12-15 minutes till they are just firm and brown around the edges.

Let the cookies cool then dust the cutout top with powdered sugar.

Put half tsp of strawberry jam on each base of the cookie and place the sugared top gently and press lightly.

Let the cookies rest for few hours for sandwich to set and then serve
