Ingredients

  1. 1 cupurad dal
  2. 1 cupflattened rice thick
  3. 2 cupidli rice
  4. as requiredwater for soaking
  5. 1 tspsalt
  6. as requiredoil for greasing

Cooking Instructions

    In a large bowl take 1 cup urad dal and 1 cup poha.
    soak for 4-5 hours in enough water.

    Soak 2 cup idli rice separately for 5 hours.

    Now blend both to a smooth batter and mix well

  4. 4

    Rice mix can be little coarse paste too.
    Keep the batter in a warm place to ferment for 8-10 hours

    Add 1 tsp salt to the batter and mix gently.

  6. 6

    Prepare the steamer and grease the idli plate with oil.
    Scoop the batter into idli plate greased with oil.

  7. 7

    Place in steamer and steam for 12 minutes on medium flame or till a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

    Soft mallige idli will be ready to be served along with chutney and sambhar.
