  1. 1 cupBasmati rice -
  2. 1/2 cupChana dal -
  3. 1Chopped onion - small size
  4. 1 tspGinger garlic paste -
  5. 2Whole black pepper -
  6. 2 Cloves
  7. 1 inchCinnamon stick
  8. 2Green cardamon
  9. 1Black cardamom
  10. 1/4 tspCumin seeds
  11. To tasteSalt
  12. 2 tbspClarified butter
  13. 1 tbspCoriander leaves

Steps

30 mins
  1. 1

    Soak chana dal for 4 - 5 hours and also wash and soak basmati rice for fifteen mins and strain it

    Heat clarified butter / ghee in a pressure cooker

    Add whole garam masala to crackle

    Add onion and saute for 2 - 3 mins.

    Add ginger garlic paste and chana dal and saute for 3 - 4 mins..

    Add rice and mix well.

  7. 7

    Add salt and two and half cup of water and cover the lid of the pressure cooker

  8. 8

    When pressure cooker release the whistle turn off the flame

  9. 9

    When pressure cooker release the whistle turn off the flame
    Serve with raita. and salad
