This is a traditional Neapolitan cuisine, attributed to poor class as it is cheap and filling.
Me and my family love this dish because of it's so creamy and has a unique taste.
I love it as it's easy and a one pot recipe. And also because in this recipe pasta is fully cooked in liquid with vegetables, so starch from pasta is not lost and the dish becomes so creamy without using much of butter or cheese.

Soak brown lentil in some water for 20 minutes.

In a pan heat oil, add chopped onions and carrots and saute.

After 2 minutes add garlic and fry. Now add tomato puree and cook for 3-4 minutes. At this point add seasonings. Pepper, salt, crushed rosemary, oregano and pepper flakes.

Drain soaked lentil and 3/4 cup water and cook covered.

Once the dal has started to soften add the pasta to it. Cook covered until macaroni is 70-80% soft. As we will cook it further with milk.

Remove the lid, Mix well and add milk. And let this boil uncovered till the mixture comes together. Keep Stirring but do not break the pasta.

Serve hot with some sprinkles of grated cheese and some pepper flakes
