When I got home from work tonight, there was a sweet aroma of cookies.... 🍪. My daughter María had made these cookies, and they turned out delicious. I immediately asked her for the ingredients and how she made them.

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cupunsalted butter at room temperature (about 115 grams)
  2. 1/2 cupbrown sugar (about 100 grams)
  3. 1/3 cupwhite sugar (about 75 grams)
  4. 1egg at room temperature
  5. 1 tablespoonvanilla sugar or vanilla extract
  6. 1 3/4 cupsall-purpose flour (about 225 grams)
  7. 1 teaspooncornstarch (optional)
  8. 1 tablespoonbaking powder (about 16 grams)
  9. 1/4 teaspoonfine salt
  10. 3/4 cupchocolate chips (about 150 grams)

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Using a spoon or a pastry spatula, mix the two types of sugar with the butter. Add the egg and vanilla sugar, and mix until all ingredients are well combined.

  2. 2

Sift the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon fine salt. Add them to the mixture and mix until you get a fully compact dough. Now add the chocolate chips and mix well.

  3. 3

Scoop out dough with a spoon and shape it into round balls. Place them on a tray until all the dough is used. Chill them in the refrigerator for 1 hour or in the freezer for 10 minutes (to prevent them from spreading too much in the oven).

  4. 4

After the chilling time, place about 12 balls (spaced apart) on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake them in a preheated oven for 18 minutes at 350°F. When the edges start to turn golden, it's time to take them out. In total, you should get about 20 cookies. Remove from the oven and let them cool.
