Ingredients

  • 1small bowl red lentils (about 1/2 cup or 100 grams)
  • 1onion, chopped
  • 1tomato, chopped
  • 1small bowl chopped bottle gourd (about 1/2 cup or 75 grams)
  • 2-3garlic cloves
  • 1green chili, chopped
  • 1 tablespoonghee or oil
  • Lemon juice, to taste
  • Salt, to taste

Steps

  1. 1

    Heat ghee or oil in a pressure cooker. Add garlic, onion, and green chili, and sauté for 1 minute.

  2. 2

    Add tomato, bottle gourd, lentils, 1 cup (about 240 ml) water, and salt. Cook until at least 2 whistles.

  3. 3

    Let it cool, then blend the mixture and strain it.

  4. 4

    Reheat the soup, add lemon juice to taste, and serve with a swirl of cream if desired.
