Ingredients

30 minutes
5 persons
  • 1 cupCabbage finely chopped
  • 1/2 cupCarrot grated
  • 2Capsicums finely chopped
  • 1/2 cupOnion chopped
  • 1 bunchSpring Onions
  • 2 tbspCorn Flour
  • 4 tbspAll Purpose Flour
  • 1 tbspGarlic finely chopped
  • 2 tspGreen Chillies finely chopped
  • 1/2 tspPepper powder
  • to tasteSalt
  • As neededOil for deep frying
  • For the Gravy:
  • 1 tbspGarlic finely chopped
  • 2 tspGreen Chillies finely chopped
  • 2 tspGinger finely chopped
  • 1 cupvegetable stock or clear Water
  • 1 tbspsoy sauce
  • 1 tbspcornflour
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tspSugar
  • 2 tbspOil
  • To tasteSalt
  • As neededSpring Onion for garnishing

Steps

30 minutes
  1. 1

    For the veggie balls:

    Combine the cabbage, carrots, a very good amount of spring onion green, finely chopped capsicum, corn flour, all purpose flour, garlic, green chilli, salt in a bowl and mix well.

  2. 2

    Shape spoonful of the mixture into small balls.

  3. 3

    Deep fry a few balls at a time in hot oil until they turn golden brown in colour.

  4. 4

    Drain on absorbent paper and keep them aside.

  5. 5

    For the gravy:

    Heat the oil in a wok or in a pan on a high flame.

  6. 6

    Add a good amount of garlic, green chillies, ginger, Cabbage and Spring onions and stir fry over a high flame for a few seconds.

  7. 7

    Add the Vegetable stock, soy sauce, sugar and salt and simmer for a few minutes.

  8. 8

    Now add Cornflour Slurry for silky, smooth and shiny gravy simmer it again for 3-5 minutes for better consistency.

  9. 9

    Just before serving, put the vegetable balls in the sauce and bring it to a boil.

  10. 10

    Veg Manchurian is ready to serve hot with a garnish of spring onions and fried rice to accomplish.
