Wash thoroughly and soak.chana daal for minimum 4-6 hours. Now drain the excess water completely and keep it in a stainer for few minutes.

Meanwhile finely chop the onions, chillies, red chillies, curry leaves and keep in A big bowl. Add cumin seeds, grated ginger, pinch of turmeric powder too.

Now take A grinding jar and prepare rough paste of the soaked daal without adding water. Grind it in small batches not altogether. Add to the bowl and mix all things thoroughly. Now heat oil for deep frying. Add salt to the mix and make round flat ball size vadas and deep fry on low to medium flame on both sides.

For coconut chutney grind and make a smooth paste of all yhe ingredients mentioned above by adding some water and salt. Tamper it and it's ready to serve.
