Ingredients

Serves 4_8 servings
  1. 1/2 kgdiced pumpkin
  2. 3 cupsflour
  3. 1/4 kggrated carrots
  4. 3 tablespoonvegetable oil for the dough
  5. 1 cupwarm water
  6. 1 teaspoonsalt
  7. 2 tablespoonsugar
  8. Cooking oil

    Wash and cut the pumpkin into large chunks. Boil the pumpkin until it's tender to mash and add salt to taste.

    Mash the pumpkin.

    Mix the flour, grated carrots, sugar,salt, pumpkin and the cooking oil in a large bowl and knead well. Adding warm water as required and continue kneading until you have a smooth dough. Cover the dough and let it rest for 1hour.

    Knead the flour well again, and flatten it on a table and apply some oil. The cut into thin stripes.

    Make small sized balls, enough number for your chapatis. Dust the balls with some flour to avoid sticking on the surface.

    Flatten each ball and roll out thinly into sizeable circles.

    Heat and grease your pan over a medium flame. Start your first chapati and avoid it burning. Continue cooking the rest of your chapatis.

    Put your chapatis in a warm dish and wrap it to keep it warm.

  9. 9

    Serve with hot stew or cooked vegetables. Chapatis can also be served with hot milk or tea.
