Green peas are available in abundance during the cold winter season.They taste best when in season. So preserving them for long term use we need to follow few easy steps so that they stay fresh.It can be preserved and used for 6 to 8 months.Store in small pouches.

Shell peas,wash and strain out water.Boil water in a pan with salt and sugar.Add peas in small batches for even cooking. Blanch for 1 minute.

Strain out peas in a strainer.Immediately dip in ice cold water with ice cubes to stop further cooking.Strain all water completely.Spread out in a towel and dry it for 2 hours.Store in small ziplock pouches in the freezer compartment.Repeat same process with next batch of peas and store.

To use, thaw a pouch of peas and take out required quantity and cook.
