Chemmeen roast (prawns in coconut milk)

sara
sara @cook_20987772

This dish is from kerala, a land blessed with coconuts & abundant fresh seafood.
Garcinia cambogia/ kudampuli/ malabar tamarind which is used in this recipe is much sour and harder than the kokum (garcinia indica) which is common in the western states of kerala.
Notes:-
1) Over cooking prawns will make it tough and rubbery.
2) Usually seafood is cooked in clay pots (man chatti) in Kerala.
3) Addition of garcinia cambogia, which is native to kerala will give a nice pungency to the dish. if not available, substitute with garcinia indica till you get the required pungency.
4) If you want more gravy, add more coconut milk.
