Kue Koci Kue Koci
It is traditional Indonesian snack, steamed glutinous rice flour with sweet grated coconut filling wrapped in banana leaves.Sweet grated coconut is made from fresh young grated coconut, some water and palm sugar, cook it over low heat, stirring often until the liquid is almost evaporated, and continue cooking until there is no liquid left. Remove from the heat and let the mixture set until it is cool enough to handle. The original kue is made from white glutinous rice flour with coconut milk. But I like to add my kue koci with black glutinous rice (soak the rice over night and blend it smoothly with some coconut milk) or steamed and mashed pumpkin or sweet potato or yam. Wiwik Sunariyah -

Es cendol Es cendol
Pronounced "es chen doll", this is a dessert or aperitif consisting of highly textural "green worm" noodles called cendol that are made of mung bean flour and coloured with pandan essence. (If you can’t find mung bean flour then rice flour will suffice but the cendol will be mildly different in flavour, more like the Malaysian version than the traditional Indonesian recipe.) The noodles are accompanied by a selection of fruit that you can vary as you please (this recipe includes tinned toddy palm seeds and jackfruit) and topped with coconut milk, shaved ice and palm sugar syrup. Yum! If you have something of the child in you and a bit of sweet tooth, this wild confection is just right and it’s so much fun to shave the ice. (Or you can bang ice cubes together in a tea towel until they’re crushed ... although an ice shaver can be found in Asian emporiums for under $20.) Cooking Rabbit -

Chicken Catch (AYAM TANGKAP) Chicken Catch (AYAM TANGKAP)
Chicken is the most favorite dish in Indonesia and even the world, and each region has its own characteristic way to cook chicken. Chicken is a food that can be cooked in different variations --- baked, fried, or steamed --- but all are equally delicious, like this recipe from Aceh named “AYAM TANGKAP” (Chicken Catch). This typical dish from the region of Aceh is fried chicken served with leafy herbs. People say that the habit of eating Chicken Capture has become the culture of the Acehnese. So if you are on vacation in the Veranda of Mecca (Aceh), there are lots of famous restaurants that cook this dish. But arguably, this cuisine is still less popular and somewhat more difficult to find a vendor compared with, for example popcorn fried chicken or seasoned fried chicken.Making Ayam Tangkap is quite easy - just a few basic ingredients, along with natural ingredients that make this dish even more special. First, the chicken is flavored before frying (you can just soak it in the spices, or boil briefly with the spices).According to the story, the inventor of this recipe should catch the chicken first before cooking --- because that process was unique, and so it was called Ayam Tangkap. This dish much better if using chicken that's cut into small sizes, so the marinade can seep up into the meat.Ayam Tangkap doesn't seem attractive at first glance, because it's served with the dried herbs that are eaten with chicken. But the delicious fried chicken is wrapped in the scent of various leafy spices that give it a distinctive and tasty flavor. Looks might not be great, but this Ayam Tangkap with it's marinade make it perfect if used as a side dish when eating rice.I think it would also be nice if used for menu when celebrate #THANKSGIVING… Dapoer-Indonesia @ us -
Coto Makassar / Beef Soup Coto Makassar / Beef Soup
This is Coto Makassar or beef soup in peanut gravy, it is made from beef and beef tripe, a famous Indonesian traditional food originating from Makassar, South Sulawesi. This dish traditionally serves with ketupat or buras or just with steamed white rice. And Indonesians love to eat this coto with sambal tauco (chili sauce with fermented soy bean). I did not make the sambal tauco this time because I added some chilies in my gravy. So, this coto was already spicy. Wiwik Sunariyah -
Indonesian Dessert: Kolak Indonesian Dessert: Kolak
I learned this from my Balinese father. You can use canned, powdered, or fresh coconut milk depending on what's available to you. If it's too rich in Step 3, you can add water, but if it's too thin, simmer a bit more. Indonesians usually add some chopped bananas as well. Recipe by Mama fio cookpad.japan -
