Hyderabadi Chicken Khorma

Popular main course dish of Hydis especially for lunch or dinner in almost every household on a weekend. This basically is a spicy Yoghurt gravy with Chicken or Mutton that is a big hit among many. The same recipe applies to both mutton and Chicken Khorma. Yoghurt, Potatoes cubed, Onions and some selected spices go into making this authentic dish. Every small get togethers, weekends or special occasions, be it anything, this dish is a must and the best part of it is that it can be relished with both Rice and Naans. Here in the City, this is served with Baghara Khaana and Charkoni Naan (square shaped) that is available in every little shop that makes and sells it. Enjoy!

Steps

40 minutes
  1. 1

Marinate chicken with all the ingredients except the last 6 of the ingredients mentioned. Make a smooth paste of Almonds before the marination. Set aside for 20 minutes. Deep fry sliced Onions just like we do for Biryani along with the Potato Cubes.

  2. 2

In a large open-mouthed vessel, heat Oil and add the marinated Chicken. Let it cook on low heat. After about 10 minutes of simmering, add the fried and crushed Onions, slit green Chillies and the Potatoes.

  3. 3

Mix well and simmer on medium-high heat after adding some water. Adjust the water quantity according to your own preference since yoghurt is already added and it leaves a lot of water.

  4. 4

After simmering for about 15-20 minutes, adjust Salt and keep the consistency as per your family's liking. It's usually semi thick. Garnish with lots of Coriander and Mint Leaves.

Homemaker by choice and a passionate cook by heart. An aspiring cook who actually never knew anything about Cooking until i became a mother myself. With Motherhood came the responsibilities as well and this was the turning point in my life.I started to learn the ABC's of cooking, taking help from my mother and my MIL. And time just flew. I spread my wings higher and higher. With my love for excellence and innovation, i stepped into a world of homecooks with my exposure to Cookpad one fine day on the social media. And there was no looking back since then and i have not only shared recipes here on this wonderful platform but also have made some lovely friends as well. Today iam successful because of my hard work, dedication and loads of good wishes of my family and my kids in particular.
