In this quickie Rice dish, I have used canned Chickpeas. However if you are using the dry ones, there is absolutely no problem. This was an instant dish that was made for Lunch, so I preferred using canned variety that was quite helpful. But take care that you drain all the liquid. Do not use that. Use of Salt should be done according to one's own taste. It's a perfect one for a lovely Lunch with your families when there is shortage of time and you are busy. Serve it alongside any side dish or just plain old Raita. I had served it with some French Fries to my little ones just to make them eat it happily.

Steps

35 minutes
  1. 1

Boil rice using all the whole spices mentioned just as you do for Biryani, drain and keep aside. Heat Butter or Ghee. Add Bay Leaves and the Ginger garlic paste. Saute for a minute or two before adding the Onions. Saute nicely until translucent and done. Now add Tomatoes that are finely chopped. Cook until soft and mushy.

  2. 2

Add Chickpeas and the other ingredients as well. If you are using the dry ones, pressure cook them but take care not to over boil. They should not be too soft. Cover and cook for around 5 to10 minutes.

  3. 3

Add cooked rice and mix well. Garnish and serve hot with any Raita of your choice.

Homemaker by choice and a passionate cook by heart. An aspiring cook who actually never knew anything about Cooking until i became a mother myself. With Motherhood came the responsibilities as well and this was the turning point in my life.I started to learn the ABC's of cooking, taking help from my mother and my MIL. And time just flew. I spread my wings higher and higher. With my love for excellence and innovation, i stepped into a world of homecooks with my exposure to Cookpad one fine day on the social media. And there was no looking back since then and i have not only shared recipes here on this wonderful platform but also have made some lovely friends as well. Today iam successful because of my hard work, dedication and loads of good wishes of my family and my kids in particular.
