Onion Chutney

This is an easy chutney and it can be served with idli/dosai/paniyaram/adai. The spicy red chilli, tangy tamarind and caramelized onions add sweetness to the recipe which gives a perfect blend of flavors.

Steps

Heat oil in a pan add urad dal and chanadhal fry till golden. Add garlic and red chilli.

Add the onions and saute till golden brown adding salt. Cool and take in a blender.

Add tamarind and jaggery. Blend to a smooth paste adding little water.

For tempering heat oil add mustard seeds after it cracks add urad dal and curry leaves.

Add the tempering to chutney and serve.
