The term vadas Are used in south India, whereas in the north they are known as pakoras. In west India, the term that is used are bhajiyas. 
Generally vadas are made with lentils or rice. You can make many vada varieties either from urad dal (black gram) or from moong dal (green gram) or chana dal (bengal gram) or a mix of these lentils.
Even when you mix these dals, then too the vadas taste awesome.
This mix dal vada is made with moong dal and chana dal. The vadas are spongy, porous from inside and crisp from outside.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cupchana dal
  • 1/2 cupmoong dal
  • 2chilli
  • 1 inchginger
  • 1/4 cupgreen capsicum, finely chopped
  • 2 tbspcurry leaves, finely chopped
  • 2 tbspcoriander, finely chopped
  • pinchhing / asafoetida
  • as requiredoil for frying
  • 1 tspsalt

Steps

    Soak dal for 2-4hrs.
    Blend the soaked dal, 2 chilli and 1 inch ginger to a coarse paste without adding water.

    Add curry leaves, coriander, capsicum, pinch hing and salt and combine them well.
    furthermore, grease your hand with oil and prepare small balls, flatten the vada.

  3. 3

    And deep fry in hot oil. or preheat and bake at 180 degree celcius for 25 minutes or until it turns golden and crisp.
    also, stir occasionally till until the dal vada turns golden and crisp.

Hello all, i am Deepika, based in mumbai. Born in Maharashtrian family n got married with gujju jain guy. I was working as a HR personnel. My husband and I are very foodie.
