If you are not Gujarati or never been to Gujarat, you might get confuse with Khatta Dhokla and Khaman Dhokla. Actually both dishes are different in taste and ingredients. Steaming method cooking is healthy method also you can add Green gram or any kind of pulses. This dish I've prepared with basic ingredients. Rice and different daal ratio should be 2:1:1

  3. 3

Keep it in air tight container. If you don't have that, you can cover your vessel and put some weight on that.

  4. 4

At evening, check the batter. If it is fermented well. Sometimes if fermentation is good, you may not need to add baking soda. If it is not you can add baking soda with oil.

  5. 5

Grease the thali. Pour the batter according to your wish. If you like thick thokla, you can add more. You have to consider you thali size too. Sprinkle with red chilli powder

  6. 6

Set it in steamer vessel and steam it for around 25 minutes on high flame.

  7. 7

Remove the thali from the steamer. Let it cool for some time. You can cut it into any shape. Serve with green chutney or gingelly oil or garlic chutney. We enjoy with tea too.

I love cooking especially for my son. He is the one who gives me his opinion on every dish. I am eager to learn dishes from other states. I'm more interested in authentic and traditional recipes rather than just fusion and decorations. I love simple, authentic and realistic recipes.Follow me on Instagramdarshana_me
