Masala dosa or masale dose or masaldosa is a variation of the popular South Indian dosa, which has it's origins in Tuluva Mangalorean cuisine of Tulunadu. It is made from rice, lentils, potato, methi, and curry leaves, and served with chutneys and sambar.

Ingredients

4 servings
  • 1.5 cuprice
  • 1/2 cupurad dal
  • 3potatoes
  • As required Oil
  • 1 tbspjeera
  • 1 tbspmustard seeds
  • As per taste Salt
  • 2 strandscurry leaves
  • 1 tbsdhaniya powder
  • 1/2 tbsjeera powder
  • 1/2 tbsturmeric powder
  • 4 tbspeanuts
  • 5 tbsGrated coconut
  • 5 tbsGrated carrot
  • 1/2 inchchopped ginger
  • 1 tbspkasuri methi
  • As required Water

Steps

  1. 1

    Wash and soak the rice and urad dal separately for 4-5 hours

  2. 2

    Blend it to a smooth mixture.

  3. 3

    Boil the potatoes and peel it off and mash it.

    Dry roast the peanut

    In a pan add oil, jeera, mustard seeds, chopped ginger, green chili, curry leaves, onion saute for few mins.

    Add the mashed potato, peanut, salt and give a nice mix. Add coriander powder and jeera powder. Add kasuri methi.

    Heat a tawa, Grease oil and spread the batter very thin. Then add the potato masala, sprinkle grated carrot, coconut, chopped onion and close it from both sides.

    Hot masala dosa is ready to serve with coconut chutney.
