Cinnamon swirl cake

So I got a convection oven and am totally unfamiliar with it. My first two attempts ended in the bin. I asked a friend who happened to have thw same oven and she told me which function I should use for baking. So this was my first trial with this new info and am glad it worked😁. I got the recipe from allrecipes and tweaked a bit on the sugar. Maybe next time I will reduce the baking powder a bit too and the heat since it's all cracked up

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cupsugar
  • 2 tspcinnamon
  • For the batter
  • 2 cupsplain flour
  • 1 Tbsbaking powder
  • 1/4 tspsalt
  • 1Large egg
  • 1/3 cupoil
  • 1 cupmilk

Steps

  1. 1

    Preheat oven to 175°C. Grease and flour your pan or line with parchment paper

  2. 2

    Mix the 1/3 sugar and 2tsp cinnamon and set aside

  3. 3

    Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a bowl

  4. 4

    In another bowl mix oil, eggs and beat together for a minute. Add milk and mix well.

  5. 5

    Pour the wet mixture into the flour mixture and mix till well combined

  6. 6

    Pour 1/3 of the batter in your loaf tin. Sprinkle half of the sugar and cinnamon mixture on top of the batter. Pour half of the remaining batter and then sprinkle the rest of the sugar and cinnamon mixture. Pour the rest of the batter in the pan

    Use a knife to draw any shape in the batter in the pan to create a marble effect

    Bake for 40-45mins or till a toothpick inserted in the centpre comes out clean

I discovered my love for cooking a few years ago. Since eating out is expensive i figured i had some learning to do. Living in a very small town(i doubt it can even be called that) where you cant always find what you wanted also pushed me towards doing it on my own. I am Zimbabwean by the way.I think the internet is the best invention ever since i can look up recipes, try and modify them to suit my preferences. I love sampling dishes from different countries and of course stories behind them
