Cooking Instructions

Place the flour on a bowl, create a hole in the middle then add sugar and yeast inside the hole, add the salt on the other side, don't combine with yeast

The add water little by little, knead the dough until it's smooth and elastic, then add the butter

Knead for another 10min, then cut the dough into 8 pcs equally

Flatten each dough to add the filling then fold it and make a round shape individually then cover it with tea towel for 15min
- 5
After 15 min, place the dough into the steamer, use some parchment paper on the base
- 6
Steam it for approximately 20mins, use a tea towel before you cover the steamer to avoid any water dripping to the dough
- 7
Remove the bakpao from the steamer then serve it hot

This is a recipe I made in the same spirit as my red nosed reindeer steamed meat buns.I made the dough and filling so that it tastes good even after leaving them for a while, so that the buns can be made in advance for parties.To make the Chinese soup stock, dissolve 1/4 teaspoon of Wei-pa soup base in 3 tablespoons of water. You can also use chicken stock instead.Please adjust the spiciness with the doubanjiang.If you don't like spicy, reduce the doubanjiang by 1/4 teaspoon.
