Spinach with Chickpeas

Even though this dish may not look the best, its flavor is wonderful. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. This recipe serves 6-7 people. If you want to make it for fewer people, just reduce the ingredient amounts.

Even though this dish may not look the best, its flavor is wonderful. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. This recipe serves 6-7 people. If you want to make it for fewer people, just reduce the ingredient amounts.
Steps
- 1
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Once boiling, add the spinach and cook until thawed.
- 2
When the spinach is fully cooked, drain it in a colander. Meanwhile, rinse and drain the chickpeas.
- 3
Peel and chop 1 1/2 heads of garlic. (The size of the pieces doesn't matter, as you'll blend them later.)
- 4
Add olive oil to a pot and sauté the garlic and bread until lightly golden. (You can use the same pot you used to boil the spinach.)
- 5
Using a slotted spoon, remove the garlic and bread and place them in a blender cup. Add 1 cup of water (about 240 ml) and blend until smooth. (Leave the oil used for sautéing in the pot.)
- 6
Let the oil cool slightly, then add 1 1/2 teaspoons sweet paprika while stirring so it dissolves in the oil. (It's important to let the oil cool a bit so the paprika doesn't burn and turn bitter.)
- 7
Add the spinach and chickpeas to the pot. Season with salt, black pepper, and cumin to taste.
- 8
Add the blended garlic and bread mixture to the pot and stir well to combine.
- 9
Simmer over low heat for 10-15 minutes. That's it! Serve and enjoy!
