Yorkshire puddings

Nadine Schweitzer
Nadine Schweitzer @deanyeatsworld

Eating Yorkshire puddings is a treat for us. We usually make this when we have a roast or during our Christmas meal.

It's so easy to make but you have to be careful because of the hot oil. Making it yourself is fun as you can do it as a family. Each person can do a step in the process.

This is my version of a Yorkshire pudding recipe. I hope you enjoy making and eating it as much as we do.

Steps

10 - 15 minutes
  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 220 degrees. Place a large drop of oil (about 1/2 a teaspoon) into each muffin cup and place the tray in the oven until the oil is very hot.

  2. 2

Put the flour in a large mixing bowl with a pinch of salt. Make a well in the middle. Add in the eggs and half the milk. Whisk the ingredients together until incorporated.

  3. 3

Then add the remaining milk and beat until smooth. Cover with cling film and place the batter mixture into the fridge for 20-30 minutes.

  4. 4

Once ready to use, take batter out of fridge and beat the batter again. Then transfer into a measuring jug. Carefully remove the hot muffin tray from the oven. The oil will be very hot. Pour the batter equally between the muffin cups.

  5. 5

Return the muffin tin with the batter quickly back to the oven. Bake for 10-15 minutes until puffed up or well risen and golden brown.

  6. 6

Serve the Yorkshire puddings immediately. Eat with a roast or to accompany a Christmas meal.
