Dal Makhni with Tandoori Roti

Dal Makhni with Tandoori Roti
Steps
- 1
Wash the Dal 3-4 times and soak overnight. Wash again and discard the brown and black water that you would get after wash. Boil the Dal and on low flame cook for 1 hr at least until the Dal is semi-cooked. Don’t stir continuously hit occasionally. You can cook in a pressure cooker but the taste wouldn’t be the same. When boiling on low flame, discard the scum otherwise the taste wouldn’t be good. Set aside when semi-cooked.
- 2
In pan heat ghee and add ginger garlic paste. Cook for a minute.
- 3
Add Kashmiri red chili powder and stir well.
- 4
Add Tomato purée, garam masala powder and cook until ghee leaves the surface.
- 5
Add the dal and stir well. At this time add 1/4 cup butter and stir but occasionally. Add salt and stir occasionally.
- 6
The color would change and add roasted Kasuri Methi powder, check to season.
- 7
The Dal would be thick consistency but you can have it as per your choice. I kept thick consistency as I prefer it. Add chopped coriander leaves and 1/4 cup cream. Stir and set aside.
- 8
Garnish with some more chopped coriander leaves and cream and enjoy. I had Tandoori Roti.
