Easy in the Microwave! Creamy Soft-Set Eggs

There's a piece of kitchen equipment sold by Nordicware that lets you cook fried eggs in the microwave (you can make 2 at a time). I wanted to make just one egg, so I used the recipe that comes with the gadget as reference. My husband discovered the right timing and microwave wattage, so this is the method I use now!
Use a container that's about 8.5 cm in diameter and 4 cm high. It works better if you put the water in the container first, then add the egg. (I did it the other way once, and the egg white exploded). If you don't poke a hole in the yolk it may burst! Be sure to make that hole! Recipe by feritita

Steps
- 1
Put the water in a small bowl. Break an egg that you've just taken out of the refrigerator into the bowl. (The egg should float on the water.)
- 2
Poke the yolk with a fork or something through the membrane. (This is to prevent the yolk from bursting, so don't forget this).
- 3
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap. (If the egg does burst, the wrap prevents it from splattering all over the microwave. It's good to prevent splattering since you can burn yourself and cleaning up can turn out to be a hassle!!)
- 4
Microwave at 500 W for 50 seconds and it's done!
- 5
The microwaving time can vary depending on your device as well as the size and temperature of the egg, so observe it carefully the first time.
- 6
If the water remaining in the bowl bothers you, scoop it out with a spoon.
- 7
Variation: Microwave for an additional 10 seconds. Remove the excess water, add salt, pepper and mayonnaise, and mix while cutting the egg up with a knife.
- 8
Spread between two slices of bread and you have an egg salad sandwich in no time! You can make one without messing up a cutting board.
