How to Peel the Outer Skin of Chestnuts (My Mother's Version)
I've tested many ways to peel chestnuts, but believe the method my mother taught me is the best.
As long as you are careful when peeling off the hard base, the rest is easy. Recipe by Torabi-
Steps
- 1
Soak fresh chestnuts in water overnight.
- 2
Peel off the hard base of the chestnut from the side with a knife. It's tricky, so be careful.
- 3
Peel the rest of the outer shell in sections by pulling toward the top of the chestnut.
- 4
It should look like this.
- 5
Use the corner of the blade of your knife to peel the rest.
- 6
It's easy, right?
