Shrimp Masala is a spicy Indian dish made with onions, tomato, ginger, garlic and some other few spices. The final dish is so delicious and it goes well with rice or roti.

Marinate the shrimps with 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and salt. Keep aside for 10-15 minutes.

Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Add the marinated shrimps and shallow fry them for 4-5 minutes. Remove from the pan.

Add remaining oil to heat in the same pan. Add cumin seeds, bay leaf, cinnamon,cardamoms, cloves and saute till they are aromatic. Add chopped onion and fry till translucent. Add chopped tomato and green chillies. Cook tomato till it turns soft. Then add ginger garlic paste,turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt and saute for 3-4 minutes till the raw smell disappears.

Add little water and cook for a minute or two. Next add cumin powder, coriander powder and saute till oil separates.

Now add the fried shrimps and green peas. Mix well and cook for 5-7 minutes by adding little water over a low medium heat till it reaches a desired gravy. Add garam masala powder and chopped coriander leaves. Cover and turn off the flame.

Serve the delicious shrimp masala hot with rice or roti.
