#special
Fruit custard is one of our favourite dessert ! But from the past few years I make this custard with the cornflour and other ingredients readily available in the kitchen pantry because .
The custard powder is basically cornflour with permitted food color, salt and flavour ( vanilla /strawberry).so don't worry if you don't have ready to use custard powder.but this basic 4 ingredients.corn flour, salt, vanilla and yellow food color .you can easily make custard at home with the addition of sugar and milk and once chilled add your favourite fruits in it and your favourite FRUIT CUSTARD is ready to relish.
The cooking time doesn't include cooling , chilling and fruit preparation time.

Steps
- 1
Mix the cornflour and 1/2 cup milk (at room temperature) and form a slurry.
- 2
In a pot boil the rest of the milk, add vanilla extract/essence and mix well. Add in the sugar too and mix well. Add in few drops of Yellow food color till you get the desired color.mix well. Now add in the cornflour slurry in the simmering milk, simultaneously stir the milk as you pour it and continue to stir so that no lumps forms. Cook for about 3 minutes or so, add in a pinch of salt too. the milk will thicken with the cornflour and form custard.
- 3
Once the custard is ready, pour in a bowl and let it cool at room temperature and then chill it.
(I generally make and chill overnight.) - 4
Cut the fruits into bite sized (here I have used only pomegranate and banana today as it was readily available at home) and add into the chilled custard and mix, keep some aside to garnish. Once mixed garnish / top with the remaining banana slices, pomegranate arils or whatever fruits you have added, tutti frutti, cashewnuts and mint leaf and serve while still chilled. Bon Appetit!
