Ingredients

8 servings
  • 300 gramsFlour (cake flour or all-purpose flour)
  • 1 1/2 tspDry yeast
  • 1 1/2 tbspSugar
  • 150 mlLukewarm water
  • 1 tbspMargarine
  • 1Sliced cheese
  • 1Indian curry

Steps

  1. 1

    Mix the dry yeast and sugar in lukewarm water (about 40°C) in a bowl. Add the flour and knead. When the dough comes together, add the margarine, and knead vigorously on a work surface for 5 to 10 minutes!

  2. 2

    Tip: You can leave it up to the bread machine to handle the first few minutes of mixing and kneading. When the dough comes together, you can take it out and continue kneading by hand. This is a stiff dough, so be careful.

  3. 3

    First rising: If it's wintertime, do the first rising inside a kotatsu (heated table covered with a duvet); in the summertime, let it rise at room temperature - until the dough has doubled in volume, for about 30 minutes in a bowl. (Oil the bowl beforehand so that the dough doesn't stick to it.)

  4. 4

    (If you have time) Divide the dough into 8 portions, and leave to rest for 10 minutes or so.

  5. 5

    Form the dough, and cook in a non-stick frying pan without any oil over medium heat, on both sides.

  6. 6

    ☆Variation☆ Sandwich cheese between pieces of this dough, and cook on both sides to make cheesy naan.
