Cooking Instructions
- 1
Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces, and cut the Japanese leek into 2 cm pieces. Alternately skewer the chicken and Japanese leek. Use 3 pieces of chicken and 2 pieces of Japanese leek.
- 2
Add the ※ ingredients in a small pot, and turn on the heat to medium. When it starts to boil, mix with a spatula so that it won't burn, and simmer until thickened.
- 3
Simultaneously, heat vegetable oil in a frying pan, and arrange the Step 1 skewers. Cover with a lid and leave it ajar. Pan-fry over medium-high until both sides are browned.
- 4
Drizzle the Step 2 sauce into Step 3. When the chicken and leek are evenly coated with the sauce, it's done.

Sweet & Savory Yakitori and Teriyaki Sauce Sweet & Savory Yakitori and Teriyaki Sauce
My mother taught me this sweet and salty sauce before I was married. Adding and boiling the water mellows out the soy sauce and creates a nicely mild sauce. Of course you can use this sauce for yakitori or teriyaki, but you can also stretch out it's uses to include tempura rice bowls or breaded cutlet rice bowls.Boil until the sauce decreases to half the amount while making sure it doesn't boil over. As it cools, it will thicken so stop the heat just as it starts to thicken up. Keep your eye on it when it starts to reduce, because it will become prone to burning. Cabbage served at a yakitori restaurant in Hakata. It pairs well with greasy meals and beer snacks. It's healthy, so you can eat a lot! The origin of this recipe: When making yakitori, something was missing... yes, that essential cabbage. That sweet and sour cabbage from the izakaya. I recreated it by adjusting information found online. My husband is thrilled and can easily finish half a head of cabbage. Haha. クッキングあやかTranslated from Cookpad Japan
