Tomato Rice
Also known as 'takali sadam' 'takali' means tomato in Malayalam. It is spicy and tangy dish.
Steps
- 1
Take a pressure cooker pan. Add oil. Once oil is hot, add mustard, dried red chilli and green chillies. Add curry leaves and shallot onion. Saute for some time. Add chopped tomatoes.
- 2
Soak the rice at least for half an hour. Meanwhile, add masalas and continue to cook for some time.
- 3
Add salt and continue to saute until it becomes mushy. Add water and rice. Don't add too much water. Close the lid and give 2-3 whistles. Open the lid and serve hot. As it is already tangy in taste, I do not serve with curd.
