This is a heartwarming simple recipe with turdal. Works wonders in this scorching summer heat. Here I have used Chavli greens, you also can make it with other greens like spinach, also with cabbage, snake gourd.

This is a heartwarming simple recipe with turdal. Works wonders in this scorching summer heat. Here I have used Chavli greens, you also can make it with other greens like spinach, also with cabbage, snake gourd.

Wash and cut the Chavli leaves

Boil the turdal in a pressure cooker with water for 2 to 3 whistles.

Then blend fresh coconut, cumin seeds, pepper and dry red chillies to a paste with 1 to 2 tbsp of water.

Then take a cooking vessel in it add the cooked tur dal with turmeric powder to it add the Chavli greens and a bowl of water and let it boil.

To this boiling dal and Chavli leaves add the blended paste of coconut, red chiilies,cummin, pepper and stir and add 1more bowl of water for a semi thick liquid consistency.

When all this gets cooked nice which takes about 8 to 9 minutes. Remove from fire.

Temper with coconut oil, mustard seeds and pinch of asafoetida.
