Easy Potato and Carrot Dish to Serve with Rice

My mother used to make me this easy but tasty dish. The flavors in it really bring back memories! The seasoning is kept on the simpler side.

Fry the potatoes till they become transparent.
Adjust the seasoning depending on the kind of soy sauce you use.
Grinding the sesame seeds will give it a fuller and more delicious flavor.
There were about 300 g of potatoes and carrots all together after pealing.
You can change the vegetable oil to sesame oil too. Recipe by Jikana

Ingredients

2 servings
  • 1Potatoes (medium size)
  • 1Carrot (medium size)
  • 1 tbspSesame seeds
  • 1 tbspSoy sauce
  • 1 tbspSake
  • 1as much as you need Vegetable oil (for frying)

Steps

  1. 1

    Cut the potatoes into matchstick shaped pieces about 4 to 5 cm long and about 5 mm wide pieces. Soak the slices in water (but not for too long).

    Cut the carrots to about the same size as the potatoes.

    Pour vegetable oil in a frying pan on medium heat and add the potatoes and carrots. Add sake when the potatoes become transparent. Let the sake cook down.

    Turn up the heat a little and add soy sauce. Fry until it gives off a nice roasted aroma, then sprinkle in the sesame seeds. You're all done!
