Easy Microwaved Apples

cookpad.japan @cookpad_jp

My 2 year old daughter can't eat crunchy apples. I remember when my mother used to boil apples in a pot and came up with a simple version that saves money on your gas bill.

Even dried out raw apples will taste yummy if you use this method.

If you are using Jonathan apples or any type that has a pretty high acidity, add a little bit of sugar or honey, etc.
But if making these for a child under 1 year old, please don't use honey since it may cause botulism! Recipe by uzu1118

Steps

  1. 1

Peel the apple and cut into 1 cm cubes. (If preparing this for adults, cut into larger bite-sized pieces).

  2. 2

Put the water and salt into a bowl. Add the apple. Soaking the apple in salt water prevents discoloration and brings out the sweetness, so don't omit.

  3. 3

Put the apples into a colander and lightly drain the water. Place the apples in a heat-resistant container and lightly cover with plastic wrap. Microwave for 3 minutes at 500 W.

  4. 4

Once they have cooled, arrange on a dish and they're done!!

  5. 5

You can mix it into yogurt.

  6. 6

    Serve with pancakes.

  7. 7
