Fry marinated prawns with salt and turmeric powder in mustard oil and set aside. Cut the lau into cubes and wash and keep aside.

In the same Kadai add 1 tbsp more mustard oil. Add cumin seeds, bay leaf, dry red chili, ginger paste, and sauté. Add the lau cubes, salt, sugar, turmeric powder and cook under low flame with a lid covered. Water is not added as lau releases water. Add the fried prawns and cook till the mixture becomes mushy.

Finally, add ghee and serve with rice.
