Ingredients

  • 3 cupsrice
  • 1whole chicken cut into 4 pieces
  • 3medium size onions sliced
  • 3small tomatoes pureed
  • 1 tbspginger garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsphaldi powder
  • 1 tspred chilli powder
  • 1/2 cube (Maggi chicken stock cube)
  • 4-5 tbspoil
  • as per tasteSalt
  • As requiredWhole garam masala
  • 2bay leaves
  • 2 inchcinamon stick
  • 5green cardamoms
  • 5cloves
  • 1staranise
  • 2black dried limes
  • For chicken marination
  • as per tasteSalt
  • 1 tbsplemon juice
  • 3-4 tbspoil for shallow frying the chicken

Steps

    Wash and soak the rice and keep it aside. Wash the chicken pieces and pat dry then add salt and lemon juice mix it well. Keep it aside for 15 mins.

    Heat oil in a heavy bottom pan or Kadai, add oil add the sliced onions saute it for a few mins then add the whole spices fry till the onions are golden brown in color, add ginger garlic paste fry for few mins add tomato puree stir fry then add Maggi cube, haldi powder, red chili powder fry till oil leaves the sides.

    Now add the marinated chicken, stir well then add the dried lime, salt saute for few mins then add 6 cups of water when it starts boiling cover and cook till the chicken is tender. Then remove the chicken pieces and add the rice mix it adjusts salt. Cover and cook till rice is done.

    Heat oil in a pan fries the chicken pieces on medium flame till golden in color on both sides. Place the fried chicken pieces on the rice. Garnish with chopped coriander and mint leaves. Serve with Dakkous (spicy tomato garlic sauce).
