Heat a pan,dry fry coconut till brown colour by continuously stirring on Low heat.add coriander powder,chilli powder and pepper corns.sauté for a minute and remove from heat.stir for few minutes and remove to a dish and allow to cool.once cooled down,grind in a blender to fine paste.I used 3 tbspn of boiled and cooled water to grind.

In a pan heat oil and add mustard seeds.once they splutter add red chilli and curry leaves.sauté for few minutes.add shallots and green chilli.sauté till shallots are translucent.add 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder and salt.sauté well for a minute or two.

Add tamarind juice and boil for a minute.add the masala gravy,mix well and add water if needed.bring to boil on Low heat by covering the pan.

Boil till gravy is reduced to required consistency.serve hot with rice.i
