Ingredients

6-8 peopke
  • 2 cupswhole wheat flour
  • 1 cupPowdered sugar
  • 1 cupcoarsely ground oats
  • 6 tbspmelted ghee
  • 1/2 tspsalt
  • 1/2 cupdessicated coconut
  • 1/4 cuplukewarm milk

    In a bowl add all the dry ingredients and mix it very well. Now add ghee and rub it to the mixture making sure it reaches everywhere. Now add the milk a little at a time and mix it to make a dough. Don't add all the milk at once use only the amount which is needed to make a hard and stiff dough. Knead it for a couple of minutes.

    Cover it and keep it aside for 30-40 minutes. After that knead it again for 2 minutes and make big balls of it. Roll out the balls like a disc. It should be half an inch thick and cut in the desired shape. I used a cookie cutter to shape it. You can use any glass or cap of the jar to cut it. Heat oil in a wok when it's moderately hot add this khasta one by one don't overlap them. Fry it in a medium flame flipping it from both sides until it got a beautiful reddish-brown colour.

    Cool down completely and store it in an air-tight container. It will be good for a month at room temperature. Make it and enjoy it with your family.
    IMPORTANT
    You can also use All-purpose Flour instead of whole wheat flour and Semolina in place of oats. You can add any dry fruit of your choice or a mix of dry fruits or you can skip it also. Feel free to adjust the sugar accordingly. Use clarified butter(desi ghee) this will give an extra taste to your cookies.
