It's easy to cook perfect Basmati Rice . Rice maybe a simple food , but learning how to cook it properly is tricky. Basmati is a fragrant , nutty , tasting long grain rice grown in the Pakistan . The key to making basmati rice that is light , tender and fluffy is to rinse it first , otherwise the rice will be gummy and sticky together. I wanted to share my mother method that I have been using for decades on how to cook long grain rice. Use of vinegar helps in keeping rice separate.

Steps

Clean and wash the rice thoroughly enough water.
Soak for rice 15 minutes. - 2
Take a pot add water, bring to a boil over high heat then add soaked rice.

Add salt, vinegar and mix well.

Stir the rice a few times during cooking.
Bring rice to boil, then simmer until the rice is 90% boil. - 5
Set the stainer over your sink and strain the rice and cooking liquid. Shake the stainer a few times to fully drain the rice.

Transfer the rice back to the pot and spread the desi ghee and cover with the lid. Let stand of the heat, for 10 minutes.

The steam from hot rice trapped in the pot will finish cooking the rice and help give it a perfect texture.

Plain Boil Rice is ready to serve.

Serve your favourite meal Daal / chickpeas / curry etc... I enjoyed it with Daal
