Grilled Reuben Sandwich

I made this easy "cheat" reuben sandwich with leftover meat, cheese, & bread from my #reubencasserolebake but I didnt have any leftover #russiandressing or sauerkraut. I did however, have a jar of "Traditional Polish Salad" which is basically sauerkraut with the addition of carrot, red pepper, & onion. I also used a handy "Burger King, Zesty Sauce" container in place of a more traditional reuben sauce. Further, I just happened to have both sliced & shredded swiss cheese handy as I had recently used them in a casserole. However, one or the other would also work just fine.👌

Ingredients

  1. 2 piecesrye bread
  2. 1/2 tbspbutter or margarine
  3. 4-6 piecesdeli sliced corned beef
  4. 1 piecedeli sliced swiss cheese
  5. 1 cupshredded swiss cheese
  6. 1/2 cup"Traditional Polish Salad" or sauerkraut
  7. 1 tbsp"BK Zesty" sauce, "Thousand Island" or "Russian" dressing
  8. 1 tspdried parsley flakes, or finely chopped fresh parsley
  9. 1 tspground black pepper

Cooking Instructions

    Gather your ingredients, grease, & begin to heat a small frying pan over medium heat. Lightly butter one side of each piece of bread & place your first piece of bread butter side down in the pan.

    Next, tear your slice of swiss cheese in half & place onto bread evenly. Then add 1/2 cup of shredded swiss cheese on top of that.

    Then, layer corned beef slices evenly on top of cheese & layer polish salad or sauerkraut on top of corned beef.

    Next, add your sauce or dressing in desired amount evenly over top of polish salad or sauerkraut.

    Lastly, sprinkle top evenly with remaining 1/2 cup of shredded swiss cheese, parsley, & black pepper.

    Finally, place remaining piece of bread on top of sandwich butter side up. Cook until bottom is golden brown, then flip carefully & cook other side until golden brown as well. Remove from heat. Serve & Enjoy!
